ABOUT MAISON JOIE

At Maison Joie, we believe beauty belongs in everyday life. Our collection is filled with thoughtfully chosen decorative objects, entertaining pieces, and distinctive curiosities — each one chosen for its history, its presence, and that indefinable quality that makes you stop mid-step and simply have to have it.
Behind Maison Joie is a personal story.
It changed everything.
Seven years ago, my husband and I packed up our life in New York City and moved our family to Pacific Palisades, California. With us came our wedding gifts — a full set of crystal glasses and fine china, carefully wrapped in their original moving boxes to keep them safe. We tucked them away in the garage, telling ourselves we’d bring them out when the time was right. When we were more settled. When the occasion was special enough.
The right moment never came.
And then we lost everything in the Palisades fire.
I won’t pretend the pain disappears completely. Even now, thinking about those crystal glasses sitting in their boxes — never unwrapped, never lifted, never filled — brings a quiet ache to my heart that I don’t think ever fully goes away. Some losses just live with you.
Grief has a way of clarifying things.
In the months that followed, I found myself slowly, intentionally rebuilding — not just our home, but our life. Piece by piece. A set of vintage Culver gold champagne coupes discovered at a former antique dealer’s home. Seventeen beautiful porcelain china plates that I simply could not leave behind. Each find carrying with it a small but meaningful sense of joy returning.
And I made myself a promise. These pieces would not sit in a cabinet. They would not wait for a special occasion. They would come out for Tuesday luncheons and casual Sunday suppers and every gathering in between. Because that is the special occasion.
That is the heart of Maison Joie.
Here you will find entertaining pieces, objects, and curiosities with history and soul — and the belief that a beautiful life is not something you save for later. It is something you live right now, with the people around your table, in the glasses you finally decided to unwrap.
The fire taught me something I wish I had learned a different way.
Don’t keep it in the box to keep it safe.
Life is the occasion.
I’m so glad you’re here.
